Khắc phục lỗi uTorrent "Not Responding" (Không phản hồi)

uTorrent là client torrent phổ biến nhất nhưng hay bị treo "Not Responding", thường kèm thông báo "It seems like uTorrent is already running, but not responding". 9 giải pháp từ nhẹ đến nặng.

Nguyên nhân

  • Thiếu quyền Admin – uTorrent cần quyền cao để truy cập ổ cứng/tường lửa.
  • Windows Firewall chặn – Cần whitelist uTorrent cho cả Private/Public network.
  • Windows Update xung đột – Cụ thể KB4338818 gây lỗi.
  • AppData uTorrent hỏng – File config cục bộ bị corrupt.
  • Proxy server can thiệp – Proxy cache xung đột với traffic P2P.
  • File cài đặt uTorrent hỏng – Cài lại hoặc về bản cũ ổn định.

Giải pháp 1: Chạy uTorrent với quyền Admin (Luôn bật)

  1. Chuột phải shortcut/uTorrent.exe → Properties.
  2. Tab Compatibility → tích Run this program as an administrator.
  3. Apply → OK → Khởi động lại máy → test.

Giải pháp 2: Tắt Proxy Server

  1. Win + R → inetcpl.cpl → Enter.
  2. Tab Connections → LAN settings.
  3. Bỏ tích tất cả proxy → OK → restart uTorrent.

Giải pháp 3: Xóa thư mục AppData uTorrent (Reset config)

  1. Win + R → %AppData%\utorrent → Enter.
  2. Xóa **TOÀN BỘ** nội dung thư mục.
  3. Khởi động lại máy → mở uTorrent (sẽ rebuild config).

Giải pháp 4: Cho phép uTorrent qua Windows Firewall

  1. Win + S → firewall → mở Windows Defender Firewall.
  2. Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Change settings → tìm uTorrent → tích **cả Private và Public**.
  4. OK → restart máy → test.

Giải pháp 5: Xóa file đang tải (downloading files)

Vào thư mục download của uTorrent → xóa các file .torrent/.part đang tải → mở uTorrent lại (sẽ báo lỗi hoặc tải lại). Khắc phục nếu file tải hỏng gây treo.

Giải pháp 6: Tạo tài khoản Windows mới

User profile corrupt gây lỗi app. Tạo user local mới (Settings → Accounts → Family & other users → Add someone else → I don't have this person's sign-in info → Add a user without Microsoft account) → đăng nhập user mới → test uTorrent. Nếu ổn → move data sang user mới.

Giải pháp 7: Cài lại / Cài bản cũ ổn định

  1. Win+R → appwiz.cpl → gỡ uTorrent.
  2. Restart → tải bản mới nhất từ utorrent.com hoặc bản cũ ổn định (3.5.5 build 44994...) từ trang uy tín.

Giải pháp 8: Gỡ Windows Update KB4338818

  1. Win+I → Update & Security → View update history → Uninstall updates.
  2. Tìm KB4338818 (dưới Microsoft Windows) → Uninstall.
  3. Sau khi gỡ xong, restart → test uTorrent. Nếu vẫn lỗi → cài lại uTorrent.

Giải pháp 9: Chuyển sang qBittorrent hoặc BitTorrent

Nếu uTorrent vẫn lỗi liên tục: gỡ uTorrent → cài qBittorrent (mã nguồn mở, không quảng cáo, nhẹ, ổn định hơn) hoặc BitTorrent (cùng nhà phát hành, tương tự uTorrent nhưng ít bug hơn).

Khuyên dùng: Giải pháp 1 + 3 + 4 (Admin + Reset AppData + Firewall) khắc phục 90%+. Nếu máy yếu hoặc muốn sạch hơn → chuyển qBittorrent.
