Cách khắc phục Mozilla Thunderbird "Not Responding" trên Windows

Mozilla Thunderbird (email client miễn phí, đa nền tảng) hay bị treo "Not Responding" trên Windows 10 mới. Dưới đây các giải pháp hiệu quả.

Nguyên nhân

  • Antivirus chặn kết nối/thao tác file của Thunderbird.
  • Cài đặt tích hợp Windows Search gây xung đột.
  • Chương trình/dịch vụ nền khác can thiệp (test bằng Clean Boot).
  • McAfee Internet Security xung đột nặng với Thunderbird.

Giải pháp 1: Thêm Thunderbird vào danh sách loại trừ (Exclusions) của Antivirus

  1. Mở giao diện Antivirus (double-click icon khay hệ thống hoặc tìm trong Start).
  2. Tìm mục Exceptions / Exclusions / Trusted Applications:
  • Kaspersky: Home → Settings → Additional → Threats and Exclusions → Exclusions → Specify Trusted Applications → Add.
  • AVG: Home → Settings → Components → Web Shield → Exceptions.
  • Avast: Home → Settings → General → Exclusions.
  1. Thêm file thực thi Thunderbird (thunderbird.exe) hoặc thư mục cài đặt. Cách dễ nhất: chuột phải shortcut Thunderbird → Open file location → copy đường dẫn.
  2. Khởi động lại Thunderbird kiểm tra.

Giải pháp 2: Tắt tích hợp Windows Search

  1. Thunderbird → Tools → Options (hoặc Preferences trên Linux/Mac).
  2. Tab Advanced → sub-tab General.
  3. Mục System Integration → bỏ tick Allow Windows Search to search messages → OK.
  4. Tuỳ chọn: Tab Network & Disk Space → bỏ tick Automatic Compact.

Giải pháp 3: Clean Boot để tìm dịch vụ/chương trình gây xung đột

  1. Win+R → msconfig → Enter.
  2. Tab Boot → bỏ tick Safe boot (nếu có).
  3. Tab General → chọn Selective startup → bỏ tick Load startup items.
  4. Tab Services → tick Hide all Microsoft services → Disable all.
  5. Tab Startup → Open Task Manager → Disable tất cả mục Enabled.
  6. Khởi động lại máy → test Thunderbird.
  7. Nếu ổn → bật lại từng service/startup item một, khởi động lại mỗi lần để tìm thủ phạm.

Giải pháp 4: Gỡ cài đặt McAfee Internet Security

McAfee thường gây xung đột nặng. Cách an toàn nhất là gỡ hoàn toàn:

  1. Win+R → control → Uninstall a Program (hoặc Settings → Apps trên Win10).
  2. Tìm McAfee Internet Security → Uninstall/Remove.
  3. Làm theo wizard gỡ cài đặt → Finish → khởi động lại máy.
  4. Thay bằng Windows Defender hoặc AV nhẹ khác.

Nếu không muốn gỡ McAfee, có thể tắt Real-time scanning khi dùng Thunderbird nhưng không khuyến khích do rủi ro bảo mật.
