Lỗi "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running" xuất hiện khi kiểm tra cập nhật qua Settings hoặc Control Panel. Dịch vụ Windows Update đã dừng hoặc bị lỗi.
Giải pháp 1: Khởi động lại dịch vụ Windows Update và xóa thư mục SoftwareDistribution
- Mở Services: Win + R → services.msc.
- Tìm Windows Update, chuột phải → Properties.
- Nếu đang chạy, nhấn Stop. Nếu đã dừng, giữ nguyên.
- Mở File Explorer, vào ổ C:, bật hiển thị file ẩn (View > Hidden items).
- Xóa thư mục C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
- Quay lại Services, mở Properties của Windows Update, đặt Startup type: Automatic.
- Nhấn Start để chạy dịch vụ, kiểm tra Windows Update.
Giải pháp 2: Cập nhật driver Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST)
Driver RST cũ có thể gây xung đột với Windows Update.
- Mở Device Manager (devmgmt.msc).
- Mở rộng Disk drives, tìm ổ dùng Intel RST, chuột phải → Uninstall Device.
- Tải driver Intel RST mới nhất từ trang Intel (chọn đúng OS), cài đặt, khởi động lại.
Giải pháp 3: Đối với Windows cũ (7/8.1) – Tắt và bật lại kiểm tra cập nhật
- Mở Control Panel → Windows Update.
- Chọn Change settings → Important updates → Never check for updates (not recommended).
- Quay lại Windows Update, nhấn Check for updates.
- Sau khi cài xong, khôi phục cài đặt tự động.
Giải pháp 4: Đăng ký lại các file DLL của Windows Update
- Mở CMD Admin (Win + R → cmd → Ctrl + Shift + Enter).
- Chạy lần lượt các lệnh:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wuwebv.dll
regsvr32 wucltux.dll
- Gõ exit, khởi động lại, kiểm tra cập nhật.
