Khắc phục lỗi "We couldn't update the system reserved partition" khi cập nhật Windows

Lỗi "We couldn't update the system reserved partition" xảy ra khi nâng cấp Windows do phân vùng hệ thống dự trữ (System Reserved / EFI) không đủ dung lượng. Phân vùng EFI (ESP) chứa bootloader UEFI, cần dung lượng đủ để cập nhật.

Cách 1: Dùng MiniTool Partition Wizard (dễ nhất, khuyên dùng)

  1. Cài MiniTool Partition Wizard Free.
  2. Chọn phân vùng System Reserved → Extend Partition.
  3. Chọn phân vùng nguồn (Take Free Space from) → kéo thanh trượt cấp thêm dung lượng (tối đa 1 GB là đủ) → OK → Apply.

Cách 2: Dùng Command Prompt (không cần phần mềm thứ 3)

Trước tiên xác định kiểu phân vùng:

  1. Win + R → diskmgmt.msc → chuột phải Disk 0 → Properties → tab Volumes → xem Partition style: GPT hay MBR.

a) Nếu là GPT:

  1. CMD Admin → mountvol y: /s (gán chữ Y cho ESP).
  2. taskkill /im explorer.exe /f → explorer.exe (restart Explorer với quyền Admin).
  3. Mở File Explorer → đường dẫn Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\.
  4. Xóa các thư mục ngôn ngữ không dùng (giữ en-US cho tiếng Anh, vi-VN cho tiếng Việt).
  5. Xóa font không dùng tại Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Fonts.
  6. Khởi động lại.

b) Nếu là MBR:

Chuẩn bị: USB flash drive format NTFS, dung lượng ≥ 250MB.

  1. diskmgmt.msc → chuột phải Recovery Partition → Change Drive Letter and Paths → Add → gán chữ Y.
  2. CMD Admin → gõ lần lượt:
Y:
takeown /d y /r /f .
whoami
icacls . /grant <username>:F /t
attrib -s -r -h Y:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim
  1. Mở File Explorer, nhớ chữ ổ USB (ví dụ F:).
  2. CMD gõ lần lượt:
mkdir F:\Recovery\WindowsRE
xcopy Y:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim F:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim /h
C:\Windows\System32\Reagentc /SetREImage /Path F:\Recovery\WindowsRE /Target C:\Windows
del Y:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim /F
  1. Disk Management → Action → Refresh → kiểm tra System Reserved đã mở rộng chưa.
  2. Copy file wim về lại phân vùng Recovery và remap:
xcopy F:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim Y:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim /h
C:\Windows\System32\Reagentc /SetREImage /Path Y:\Recovery\WindowsRE /Target C:\Windows
  1. Disk Management → chuột phải Recovery Partition → Change Drive Letter → Remove Y:.
