Vẫn vậy, cho completeness, explore some more we must. Yoda style.
Simple fact là, as an end user, whatever you choose is good, as long as it delivers right result. Now, follow me.
Setup & use
Tool very simple. Download archive, extract, và install program. Application có single view, với button toggle protection against GWX on và off. As easy as that, trừ là no details explaining how protection enforced. Reading around, tôi figured it has to do with scheduled tasks và blocking gwx.exe from running.
What I did not like là addition of other three options in interface. Chúng sẽ take you to Greatis site cho some extra downloads. Tôi tried, just to see what would happen, và program launched Internet Explorer, even though it's not my default browser. Đây không phải what I'd expect từ simple utility designed to block Windows 10 upgrades. Promotional functionality not desired hoặc needed in any way, và nó does not inspire confidence. Free scans và computer speedups easily misconstrued as snake oil, especially among techies, who often are voice of community.
In the end, GWX Stopper does what it's supposed to do - tôi disclaiming findings based on limited testing, vì tôi đã heaped so much anti-GWX stuff on machines, và usage model suitable cho anyone who does not feel comfortable playing with registry và whatnot. All in all, worth considering, especially if you find other programs of this nature not quite to your liking, whatever reason.
Kết luận
Cùng cách start menu programs mushroomed back in the day khi Windows 8 released, explosion of anti-GWX software reflects deep need và desire by Windows users để được spared constant choice-less nag of upgrading to new OS. GWX Stopper là one of many tools và options available on market, for free, với promised results và some unneeded promo extras. Nó works, it's simple, và it gently sins by failing 'less is more' approach. But it gets the job done.
Sample và choose based on your emotional preference, vì all of the utilities that I've tested do exactly the same, với different GUI to entertain you. In the end, learning how to do it yourself is probably the longest but most effective method. Knowledge and control, the highway to happiness. Và tôi đã provided you with right articles to achieve that.
In an odd way, tôi sẽ miss this whole GWX drama. It's brought me so much traffic from around the Web. All of a sudden, Dedoimedo will be that much quieter. Unless Microsoft extends the offer. We shall see. See ya.
Chào.
