Windows Messenger và Windows Live Messenger hữu ích cho nhắn tin tức thì. Tuy nhiên, nếu không dùng nhắn tin, Messenger nhanh thành phiền toái tốn tài nguyên, bật lên lúc sai thời điểm. May mắn, bạn có thể gỡ hoặc uninstall Messenger trên mọi phiên bản Windows XP, Vista, 7.
Windows XP
Vì Windows Messenger đi kèm Windows XP, không thể uninstall hoàn toàn qua giao diện đồ họa. Tuy nhiên, có thể remove và disable Messenger để không can thiệp sử dụng máy.
Bước đầu gỡ Windows Messenger trong XP: đảm bảo Windows cập nhật. Với Windows XP Service Pack 1 trở lên, gỡ Messenger khỏi Start menu đơn giản.
Nhấp Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs. Nhấp Add/Remove Windows Components. Bỏ tích Windows Messenger, nhấp Next. Finish, khởi động lại nếu nhắc.
Trong Windows XP Home Edition, disable Messenger từ giao diện chương trình. Khởi động Windows Messenger, chọn Tools and Options. Tab Preferences, bỏ tích ô "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts." Nếu Messenger đã disable, tùy chọn có thể không hiện.
Trong Windows XP Professional, dùng Group Policy Editor gỡ Messenger. Start, Run, gõ gpedit.msc. Mở rộng Local Computer Policy.
Trong danh sách, tìm Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components. Chọn Windows Messenger, chuột phải "Do not allow Windows Messenger to run" chọn Properties. Chọn Enabled, nhấp OK.
Cả XP Home và Professional, disable Messenger trong Administrative Tools. Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools. Services. Tìm Messenger trong danh sách. Chuột phải -> Properties. Đảm bảo Startup Type = Disabled, nhấp OK.
Windows Vista và 7
Để gỡ Windows Live Messenger trên Vista/7, trước hết đảm bảo Windows Live Essentials cập nhật. Ô Start Search gõ Windows Update. Chọn Windows Update.
Nếu có update, chọn Install Updates. Có thể nhấp Review Important Updates hoặc Important Updates Are Available xem update, View Update History xem đã cài. Nếu không, Check for Updates. Cài phiên bản mới nhất Windows Live Essentials trước khi tiếp tục.
Cả Vista và 7: nhấp Start -> Control Panel. Dưới Programs, chọn Uninstall a Program. Chọn Windows Live Essentials -> Uninstall/Change. Chọn Remove one or more Windows Live Programs, chọn Messenger. Nhấp Uninstall gỡ hoàn toàn Windows Live Messenger.
