Slimbook Executive, báo cáo long-term 8

Nói về Tux babe, nói về bạn và tôi. Cân nhắc điều tốt xấu trong Slimbook Executive và OS, chọn Kubuntu 22.04 bởi owner, tôi. Có thể upgrade sớm, nhưng chuyện riêng. Ở đây nói latest escapades với máy này. Mua để làm productive stuff, và nó làm. Đa số thời gian.
By and large, Executive awesome. Hardware cực lovely. Downside duy nhất: OS keep misbehaving, every now and then. Run update, boom, silly regression. Nope. Không muốn. Tôi muốn stable, robust system. Muốn fun. Plural. Funs! Báo cáo 7, tôi disappointed. Có lẽ hôm nay, muses of source và compilation favorable hơn. Commence.
Vấn đề liên quan update
Có một vài, unfortunately. Thứ nhất, vì lý do nào đó, có 1-2 tuần, không nói quiet period holiday season, Discover show zero update. Cảm giác lạ, manual refresh command line, bỗng nhiên, boom, đống stuff. Và cách giống Titan report gần đây, PackageKit crashed.
Power management issues quay lại ...
Vâng, saga neverending buggy kernels và associated woes tiếp tục. Nói length báo cáo trước, viết bài workaround power management bug. Điều này, kết hợp kernel supposedly good, render decent results. Từ power management không work → 50% → fully. Giờ, với update tiếp theo, down to 85%. Nhớ, vài tháng trước, mọi thứ beautiful, spotless. Wonders of Linux on home devices.
New problem manifestation (fully updated system): làm việc bình thường, bỗng màn hình tối. Rồi recover, lặp lại vài lần. Hoặc laptop tự ngủ không lý do, hoặc bàn phím điên, text buffer gõ rác. Vài giây sau, calm down, mọi thứ fine. Chỉ xảy ra khi typing. Không gì system logs giúp diagnose weird thing mới.

Everyday fun
One-time update woes aside, cộng vài app crashes, tất cả vài tháng trước, desktop work reasonably well (trừ power issue, vẫn xảy ra). Pretty nifty, pretty, elegant system. Beautiful, fast responsive. Vâng, laptop vẫn mát, chassis handsome, display crisp sharp. Emotions chỉ brittle component, scarred by seesaw unnecessary instability desktop experience.
Repertoire goodies. Not bad. Not bad at all.
iPhone 11 cũ mới show correct, charge proper từ USB-C.
Plasma trong Plasma. Inception!
Observed gì khác? Vài điều funny. Hệ thống muốn reboot sau cài Rhythmbox. What? Odd. KDE Connect icon đôi khi stay visible lâu sau disconnect phone, nếu disable app notification trên phone hoặc tắt Wi-Fi. Not biggie. KDE Connect front, nếu connect cả USB và Wireless, vẫn thử copy data qua network, inefficient.
Kết luận
Tôi không quá hài lòng viết báo cáo này, nhưng không utterly grim. Vẫn bothered bởi nonsense updates làm hỏng power và keyboard behavior, nhất là Titan đã settle back good, solid, dependable routine. Discover crashes unacceptable, chỉ nerd recover.
Nhưng Executive damn pretty machine. Rất nhanh, instant suspend/resume, nếu không self-inflicted wounds OS, amazing ride. Plasma desktop beautiful slick. All in all, very much like to hope turned page, quay lại dùng hệ thống thay vì administer. Sure, as nerd, tôi like games, nhưng as end-user, tôi detest. OS nên invisible. Với prospect hơi rosier, bid farewell, until next time.
